(Above) J. Godfrey - Rhyncholaelia digbyana, this year it has 5 flowers and 3 buds - smells great!!!

(Right) B. Hatos - This picture taken mid May. The plants are clusters of Dendrobium pierardii 'Memoria Katherine Hatos' One single  flowering cane received an HCC/AOS at the 'Redland' Show in 1999.

My mother walked me into woods near my home in Washington D.C. when I was 7 or 8 years old, in search of a Special Flower, the 'Lady Slipper' We found one and I was amazed! For this and many other reasons I named this plant in memory of her.

I purchased the plant from Fred Fuchs approximately 15 years ago, these 'Pendant' type Dendrobiums were some of Fred's favorite Orchids. This late blooming clone, has canes that reach 7 feet in length! If the WildCatt data base is correct, this is the first time a pierardii has received a flower award.

(Above) J. Godfrey - Lycaste macrobulbon blooming for me for the first time all from one pseudebulb.  Another purchase from the Redland Festival (Orquifollajes Ltda. - Colombia).  This plant has beautiful foliage (it's deciduous) and the flowers are fragrant.  However, the flowers this time were smaller than previously awarded clones.

(Above) B. Hatos - Ascocenda Alexander Hatos, Here is a cross I made about six years ago, it just flowered for the first time 3 weeks ago. I named it after my Father. The cross is (Ascda. Fuchs Saffron x V. Tessellata "R.F. Orchids" AM/AOS.) It produced two spikes, the flowers are of heavy substance and are fragrant. I'm a happy breeder!

(Above Two) J. Godfrey - Stanhopea tricornis,  is very fragrant in the morning smelling like artifical banana candy.  I got this one from the Redland Festival several years ago.  From Mexico.
